 FROM THE CHAIR

Who Do You Trust?

By RJ Patel

In today’s world of fast-paced business, exploding social media, and “fake” news, who do you trust when you have a problem or a question? Whether you are looking for a roofing company or a kennel to board your pets, where is the first place you turn for suggestions? My guess is that you would say your neighbors, close friends and family – those that form your support group. When it comes to your business, who is your support group?

Enter ARCSI, A Division of ISSA. If you are a residential member of ISSA, you have at your fingertips access to a large group of residential cleaning company owners – your support group you can use as you run your business.

Over the past several years, I have been fortunate enough to meet several of my peers and form a very strong network that Asha and I are able to rely on for sound advice and guidance. We have even built a strong group in the Atlanta area that meets regularly. We don’t see each other as competitors but as peers. By sharing our knowledge, issues, and concerns, we have in fact made our business stronger.

Last week, I attended the ISSA Leadership Summit in Tucson. I was reminded once again why I joined ARCSI so long ago and why I remain a member now. The speakers were excellent – (off the chart great!) – but more than that, I value the relationships I have made over the years as a member. I was also happy to make a few new friends at this event – and I gladly welcome them into my personal network.

This week I attended the ISSA’s YES (Young Executive Society), before you ask why…because I feel Young! What a great event it was in Atlanta.  Ernie came for this and the Experience Show -- the restoration and carpet cleaning mini-convention. The people Asha and I met and the education was amazing.

Brant Insero from ISSA talked about “change management” -- how and why we decide to make changes, how it’s received and implemented (WOW)! It was a very powerful session. I encourage you to check out the offerings on the ISSA website and make yourself better to make your business better.

We have several opportunities coming up for you to encounter your residential “peeps.” In June, Joe Walsh, owner of Green Clean Maine, is holding a networking event at his facility in Portland, Maine. The event, sponsored by Bissell, will include a facility tour and the opportunity to learn how Joe manages his green cleaning business.

After that is the ISSA Show North America 2018 in Dallas. We haven’t had a Show in Dallas in a long time but know that they will welcome us back with open arms. The Show is always – and I do mean always! – a great place to meet, connect, share, and just have fun with your counterparts from all over.

Registration for the Show opens in May. If you want to get the most out of your membership with ARCSI, A Division of ISSA, then the Show is the place you need to be.

Sincerely,

 EVENTS & EDUCATION

Next Stop for the HCT: Baltimore

The House Cleaning Technician (HCT) training and certification is coming to Baltimore in May. This is your opportunity to differentiate yourself from other residential cleaning companies in your market as professional and knowledgeable.

"I took the HCT class in Chicago, it was so worth it. You will learn so much and it gives you a great feeling of accomplishment as well as being certified," John Winter, of Dawn to Dusk Cleaning Services in Michigan, said.

Becoming certified gives you the knowledge to be the best cleaner possible. Certified House Cleaning Techs understand all the surfaces they will find in clients' homes, how to clean them and (almost more importantly) how NOT to clean them.

This year we have ample opportunity to get you and your team the HCT Certification.

Offered by the IICRC accredited school, the Institute for Service Excellence, the course is taught by Bruce Vance, ISE.

Retail Giant Bucks Tech Industry Trend by Hiring Employees In Pilot Program
From Cleaning Business Today
